Coach’s Corner

Welcome,

To all new and returning Mustangs Wrestlers:

The 2007-2008 season is coming up very soon, so here are a few things to help you start preparing yourself to become a champion this year.

Let’s start with your weight management program.  Decide what weight you want to wrestle at and start maintaining that weight now.

Start by changing or controlling your eating habits.  Fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, yogurts and lots of water will give you the energy you need.  Stay away from fried foods, soda, and fast foods.

You do not have to stop eating, you just need to adjust what you eat and when.  Don’t eat heavy after 6:00 pm and always start out the day with a good quality breakfast to give you the energy to workout during the day.

Second, start an endurance/conditioning program by running at least two miles a day.  Each week increase the distanced by one mile until you are running five miles a day.  Once you have acquired your desired weight, reduce the running to every other day and increase your mat time.

When you get up in the morning, start out your day with ten good push-ups, sit-ups and as many pull-ups as you can do , then take a shower and start your day.  Doing this each morning and before bedtime will increase your strength factor over your opponents who have chosen not to put the time into becoming a champion.

Most importantly, get to freestyle practices on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  This allows you the mat time you need and gives you the muscle memory required to becoming a great wrestler.

I am looking forward to this year and seeing who has the heart and desire to rise above the rest to becoming our next champions for the Mustangs Wrestling Team!

Good Luck
