1-5-09

Busy holiday break for the Mustang’s varsity wrestling team.  On Monday @ Tuesday Dec 29th @ 30th 2008, the varsity team went to Upland High School for the Black Watch Tournament.  In the end we had two champions, Dylan Cataline at 135 pounds and Jake Harper at 145 pounds along with a good showing by Alex Shea placing 6th.  The team finished in 7th place with only three points separating 4th from 7th.

On Friday and Saturday January 2nd and 3rd 2009 the varsity team attacked the 48 team Shark Tank Tournament at Santiago H.S. where the team battled to a 6th place trophy finish.  Dylan Cataline again was the 135 pound tournament champion and was named MVP for the lower weight division, great job!  Gary Fuentes who was extremely sick and unable to attend the second day of Black Watch, came back at the shark Tank Tournament and placed 3rd.  Also placing was Jake Harper taking 4th, Talyn Piccionne and Alex Shea placing 5th.  Without these wrestler’s efforts on the second day, our team would not have placed at this tournament.  Awesome job done by all of you!

Now it’s time to step up and attack the sharks again in our Big Eight Dual on Wednesday in their own gym.  I know that each and every one of you can rise to the occasion and beat your opponent and help our team be victorious against them.  Remember this is a team dual and every point counts!

Act like a champion, become a champion.  The only difference between winning and losing is the guts to overcome your tired bodies, weak minds and can’t do attitudes.  So put it all on the line, leave it all on the mat and become the champions I know you are.  Each and every one of you can and will be champions.
